My mission is to inspire, equip, and delight those who seek a deeper relationship with God and who desire His influence in their families.
How it all began...
I'VE ENDEAVORED TO LIVE OUT MY VALUES OF GOD AND FAMILY IN MY HOME, BUT IT HASN'T BEEN EASY. IT'S HARDER TO PRACTICE PRIORITIES THAN IT IS TO LIST THEM. AS I PARENTED, I FOUND MYSELF ASKING, "IF KNOWING GOD IS WHAT I WANT MY CHILDREN TO VALUE THE MOST, THEN HOW CAN I INCORPORATE MORE OF HIM IN MY INTERACTION WITH MY FAMILY?" AT THE SAME TIME, I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE OUT ALL OF THOSE SOCIAL SKILLS MY CHILDREN NEEDED TO LEARN, AND I WANTED THEIR MINDS TO BE CHALLENGED. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO INTEGRATE EVERYTHING I THOUGHT WAS IMPORTANT FOR MY CHILDREN INTO THOSE BRIEF SLIVERS OF TIME WITH THEM? I BEGAN COMBINING BIBLE TEACHING WITH LIFE LESSONS AND GAME TIME. IT WORKED FOR OUR BUSY FAMILY. WHEN I STARTED WRITING, I REALIZED I WANTED TO GIVE MY READERS SOMETHING SIMILAR, TOOLS THAT HELPED EASILY INCORPORATE VALUES INTO BUSY LIVES.
The effort to make the spiritual more accessible is the heartbeat of Pen of Praise. ONCE THE WRITING CONCEPT WAS CLEAR, THE NAMES OF MY WRITING ENDEAVORS CAME EASILY. PEN OF PRAISE CARRIES MY DAUGHTER'S MIDDLE NAME, PRAISE, AND "HALO" IN HALO GREETINGS REPRESENTS MY SON'S BIBLICAL NAME, GABRIEL. |

Author Bio...
Before becoming an author, Rachel taught high school, worked in children's homes and with the mentally ill, made domestic adoption placements, and assisted in her husband's office. Rachel has loved being a Christian, wife, and mom, and has had the honor of caring for her mother before she passed away. Rachel has a BA in Secondary English Education, is a member of sundry writing groups, and serves God alongside her Livingway Church family.
