It's been said that 20% of the church does 80% of the work. If that is true for all contributions to the Body of Christ, then Jesus has 20% of His Body doing the job of helping the hurting, encouraging the saints, reaching the world, reflecting His nature, and making spiritual impact. Scripture says that we are "particular" body parts; we are designed to depend upon one another and to support one another. Like puzzle pieces, we are part of a bigger picture and contribute to the greater good of the Kingdom cause. We don't have to have spotlighted significance to be significant. One damaged nerve, a stumped pinky toe, or an over-productive tear duct can attest to that! But if we are NOT doing our part, we put stress on the Body. Someone else has to compensate for our lack, our indifference, our weakness. Could it be if we are not in position, something or someone may be incomplete: a spouse, a friend, a ministry, a prayer? We aren't guaranteed that another part of the Body will take up the slack. Let's not handicap the Body of Christ, for the functioning members may not choose to pull a leg up to their shoulders on our behalf.
Tip/Tidbit: Where is your place of connection? Are you neglecting your particular responsibilities and putting stress on other believers by by being indifferent, self-consumed, or lacking in passion? Do you recognize your significance as a member of the Body of Christ? Take time to acknowledge who you are in Christ and extend your unique abilities as an offering of service. Scripture says your gift will make room for itself. If you are out of place in your efforts, God will move you into right position before too much time has passed. He wants you to be used according to His design.
