TIPS FOR SELF-ENCOURAGEMENT:
Accept the fullness of God’s love. God’s love is unfailing. His love is sustaining. His love is unconditional. His love is eternal.
Accept the fullness of God’s grace. He’s forgiving. He’s patient. He’s kind. He is for you.
Hold on to God’s promises. His word breathes life. His word is sure. His word can be trusted.
Replace negative thoughts. Hopelessness spirals downward. Think thoughts that lift. “I can” statements are a good place to start.
Project yourself into the future. Remind yourself that ten years from now, your current situation will not feel as daunting as it does in the moment.
Turn the tables with truth. Hopelessness can twist the truth. Replace the error with truth. You aren’t a failure, for example, because you do many things right.
Be a list maker. Jot down past joys and successes as well as the things that ARE going right. Sometimes there is much to be happy about, but one area of trouble can be a cloud over those sunny reason for thanksgiving.
Give people the benefit. Put others in the best possible light; give them a reason for their stupidity. Was it something in their world, perhaps, that caused them to make choices that affected you? Forgive- for your sake.
Don’t see it as personal. Every bad decision others make is not a direct attack on you. Giving others ownership of those mistakes can release you from hopelessness that comes from taking responsibilities for other’s failures.
