As I sat in our home during this season of quarantine, I suddenly felt like an object in a room. I felt like a lamp without its power source. I cried out, “God! What is it that you would have me do?! I feel completely useless right now. I feel disconnected! I know what everyone says we should be doing to stay connected but, for some reason I feel like I have to fight for even one second of time with you God! I find my words to be sharp and short. I hesitate at answering because I don’t even know how to respond right now. I just feel, disconnected.”
After a moment of what felt like a breakdown, I found myself shut in my room crying out to God. I began to repent of my bitterness, my frustrations, my words, my anger, my thoughts. Weeping, I began to feel my deep need for God’s power. I desperately needed to be “Plugged In.” As I began to pour out my heart, God’s Spirit was able to move in and fill those places in my heart that I had filled with other things. God began to speak to my heart and show me the image of a power source. He reminded me that without being “Plugged In” I have no power to overcome. I was feeling useless because I was not “Plugged In.”
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
We must find ways to stay “Plugged In” to our power source. The only way to receive God’s power is through repentance, prayer, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. We must die to our ways and “Plug In” to our source in order to become what we were intended for.
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea; I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
The reason the Apostles were able to perform miracles, signs, and wonders through the power of Jesus was because they were “Plugged In.” They were “Plugged In” to prayer and fasting. They were filled with Holy Ghost Power!
Remember these words Jesus spoke:
Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
Jesus is our source of Power!
God sent us His source of Power on the day of Pentecost!
Acts 2:37-39 “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
“Plug In” to your source, and you will “Plug In” to your purpose!
Amy Cormier is dedicated to her work for the Kingdom of God. She, her husband, Joshua, and their three children, Tayton, Jaci, and Ty, reside in Lake Charles, LA and have attended Livingway Pentecostal Church since the Lord led their family there as new converts in January 2013. When God filled Amy with His Spirit, He set a fire in her that has grown more consuming with the passing of time. Her love for God shines through her commitment to the spiritual and her hunger for His Word, and her love for His people is most evident in her burden for children and young adults. God has used her to minister to youth through bus ministry, Sunday school, and Bible studies, but Amy’s zeal for God is also apparent in her contributions to an adult small group and in her work as a real estate agent. “The thing I love most about my career is it allows me to reach others outside of the church.” Now, Amy takes on a new challenge, sharing her affection for the Kingdom, through writing. |
