*Get mattresses off the floor and on a bed frame.
*Position the bed on a wall that doesn't contain plumbing or rattling windows, that is least likely to be disturbed my neighbors, and that is not in the direct path of a stream of light.
*Eliminate the glow of electronics—and the electronics themselves if possible—from the room.
*De-clutter the room.
*Decorate with a soft color pallet or temper bright colors with neutrals and contrasting cool tones.
*Use fans or noisemakers to eliminate auditory distractions.
*Plan for changing temperatures with adequate bed covers
Tip/Tidbit: In addition to preparing the room for sleep, there are some techniques for preparing yourself for greater rest.
*Don’t go to bed until you’re ready for sleep. Unwind with TV and reading elsewhere.
*Avoid exercise and eating right before bed
*Unwind with prayer and Scripture
*Tense every muscle and slowly relax one at a time
*Follow the relaxation of muscles with deep inhales through the nose and exhales through the mouth. 10 seconds in/ 10 seconds out.
