Looking for boogers everywhere has this effect. When we are in a constant state of expecting the bad, we see it--even when it's not there. This wrong mindset robs our lives of potential joy. Philippians 4:8 gives us a counter approach to life: "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Applying this principle doesn't diminish the fact that there are bad things in life, but it does take our focus off of them so that we can see the good, which is likely more predominate than the bad.
Tip/Tidbit: Today, let's seek out the butterflies, the rainbows, the blossoms in life rather than the critters that cause us to fear.
